The inspiration for the exterior of this 1500 SF lakefront house was an abandoned mine building in Telluride, Colorado. The 100 year old reclaimed wood barn boards blend with rust-painted siding and iconic roof forms to capture the essence of a utilitarian vernacular structure.

The original space, a 70’s era home with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay, lacked the unique charm and character desired to match the client’s eclectic tastes. Conceptually the Bangalore house has two opposing faces, an introverted exterior facing the street in the east and south , and an extroverted interior elevation facing west and north. The street facing massing is more opaque while the garden facing elevations provide transparency and views.
This contemporary lake house is a project designed for a couple with two children in 2012. It is located on a narrow plot whose natural slope reaches the shores of Lake. Pierre Minassian, the architect of the project, followed this operation with his team of architects for 3 years.
A three storey extension to the rear of an existing semi-detached bungalow on a steep, river front site that PP first completed back in ‘08. In 2017 we revisited the interiors adding detail and texture to the original building footprint and palette.
The Sonoma Farmhouse was expanded by adding a master suite in a complementary shape. The existing portion of the home was modernized by opening the floor plan, modifying rooflines and adding large sliding doors to connect to the outdoors visually and physically.
