This new house is located in NW Washington DC on a steeply-sloped and forested site. The rear wall of the Chesapeake house is almost entirely glass, with decks extending out from bedrooms to create “outdoor rooms” with views of the wooded site beyond.

The Woollahra house has been designed as a structure that belongs to the park with its strong concrete block corner buttresses rising up from the existing sandstone base.

Its name makes reference to the stable and the two polo courses it is near to and, this area’s simple architecture has—maybe unconsciously—guided the concept of its design.
