Gravity Lamp – a Modern Shape Influenced by Asian Traditional Weaving

Gravity Lamps is the collection of pendant lamps designed by Kateryna Sokolova for Forestier. Their shape is influenced by Asian traditions of weaving from rattan and bamboo. The designer recreated rounded openwork shapes from traditional craftsmanship in steel and hung them to almost invisible suspensions. Its transparency creates picturesque shadows and an optical illusion, where the suspension seems to float weightlessly. For some people, Gravity lamp looks kind of innovative drones from a fantastic movie about the future and even a big bang how scientists visualized it.

The biggest model Origin (diameter 120 cm /47,2 inches) was created for roomy spaces with high ceilings and dimmed light like restaurants or hotel lobbies where it looks heavenly and mysteriously. The other two models have smaller dimensions (diameter 86 cm/33,8 inches and of 68 cm/26,7 inches) and fit both commercial and residential projects. All models come in two colors – golden or black.
