The Lakeway Residence is a contemporary luxury home located in Lakeway, Texas, nestled in the rolling Central Texas Hill Country. This 4 bedroom, 4 bath residence is positioned on a gently sloping site oriented toward distant views that emerge as the treetops descend down the hillside.

The double courtyard parti frames outdoor spaces both to the North and South of the residence. To the North, a drive court allows ample space for vehicular access while setting the main entry and massing off as a composition.

Passing through the foyer, the high-ceiling living room opens West to a formal dining area and gourmet kitchen on an axis transverse to the courtyard parti. Continuing to the South, 10’ double sliding glass doors open softly to a large pool deck wrapped by the main spaces of the first floor. The long open floor plan, tall ceilings with ample glazing, and the courtyard parti all work in harmony with passive solar principles and prevailing breezes to allow for an efficient green design.

The material palette is quiet but elegant, consisting primarily of smooth stucco, dark-stained cedar accents, and bronze finished windows throughout. The kitchen features two-tone grey cabinets, a muted glass subway tile accent wall, and a subtle white and grey marble island countertop. Adjacent to the kitchen is a butler’s pantry and laundry. Convenient garage access is also adjacent, through a discrete hall. The second floor, with a family room, two bedrooms, shared bath, and outdoor balcony are accessed via a stair behind the kitchen.

The remainder of the first floor begins East of the living room fireplace and hearth. Powder, coat, and office spaces lend quiet functionality, while the master suite provides private luxury. Separated from the main spaces by a short private hall, the master bedroom is day-lit by large corner windows facing the expansive view. The South courtyard and pool bow on axis with the more inwardly focused guest suite as backdrop. The master bath includes a deluxe shower space with freestanding tub, enclosed water closet, and double vanity while the master closet awaits beyond. Each space stands on its own yet flows easily amidst the composition, promoting a clean, modern aesthetic and sustainable lifestyle.
