The Travessa Dom Vasco apartment occupies the last ﬂoor of a mid-20th-century building, refurbished in the 80’s. The ﬂat is split into two levels: the one below – an ordinary residence; the one above – a terrace of scarce use, where an informal storage construction is placed.
Arriba is an architecture office founded by Filipe Silva Ferreira and José Andrade Rocha in 2016.
The office aims to translate ways of life into built reality, with critical thinking and optimism, engaging clients, consultants and builders in comprehensive project development.

Portuguese studio Arriba has renovated Bica do Sapato Apartment, turning it into a spacious and full of light home. From the first day we visited this site, we understood the potential of this curious layout. It resembled a maze with several heights, features we ended up exploring on a deeper level later.

This apartment, located in the old Mouraria neighborhood from Lisbon, Portugal, has suffered many transformations over the years, which involved various partitions of the space. The relationship with the street was under-explored and the connections between social and private areas were ambiguous.
