Operating in the worlds of architecture, design and academia, Astrain Studio was founded in 2016 by architect Irene Astrain after working for exceptional award-winning Architecture practices. Through a collaborative and rigorous design process, the practice is dedicated to delivering deeply contextual projects celebrating a contagious sense of joyful elegance.
About Irene Astrain
Irene Astrain is the Founding Director of Astrain Studio. She is a qualified Architect with over 10 years architectural practice experience. After a foundation course at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, she obtained her Degree and Diploma in Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
Based in London, Irene has been a member of staff for influential London practices including Patel Taylor and Piercy & Co, with more recent experience at Selencky///Parsons, before setting up Astrain Studio. With a strong design focus, her architectural experience ranges from concept to detail design primarily for educational, residential, landscape and major London masterplan schemes. Her architectural portfolio of complete work includes the Building Schools for the Future Phoenix SEN School in Bow (London) where she acted as Project Architect and the Essex University Albert Sloman Library Extension, both by Patel Taylor Architects.
Beyond the conventional practice of architecture, Irene’s work has ventured into space branding, jewellery and millinery. This led her to set up the multidisciplinary architecture and design practice, Astrain Studio.
Alongside Astrain Studio, Irene is an Architecture Design tutor in both Greenwich University and the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff.
