Bucktown house is a single-family home recently completed by Blender Architecture, an architecture practice based in Chicago. “Located on a double lot and a neighboring empty lot to the south, we took advantage of the natural daylight for a garden and patio space.
At Blender Architecture we pursue the practice of architecture as an interpretive and analytical process that grows out of the specific circumstances of each client and site. The richness and clarity of our work is the result of integrating inquiry and research with problem solving and refinement of material expression.
Maria Segal and Richard Blender formed Blender Architecture after more than 25 years of professional practice. Richard was a principal at Wilkinson Blender Architecture for 13 years, where he both designed and built a mix of living and working spaces. Richard also teaches architecture as an Associate Adjunct Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Maria was a senior project designer at Holabird & Root for 16 years, working on schools, libraries and higher education projects and specializing in learning and play environments for young children. Our work together draws on the synergy of our relationship and a shared passion for excellence in design and committed client relationships.
