An urban walled courtyard house occupying a tough public site, this home was designed for my own family. Brick construction references a material used in many of the original houses in the neighbourhood and provides a memory of the previous house on the site.

Guy Tarrant Architects is a client-focused Auckland practice specialising in new houses and alterations and additions. The practice’s residential projects are distinctive for their finely honed detailing and responsiveness to their surroundings.
With a fine arts background, Guy qualified with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1996. He became a partner of Cook Sargisson and Pirie before setting up his own practice in 2006 with the intention of delivering projects with exceptional outcomes for his clients.
Guy is the recipient of multiple New Zealand Institute of Architects’ awards, including two New Zealand Awards and the prestigious Sir Ian Athfield Award for Housing. His award-winning designs span suburban homes to weekend retreats and include new homes and alterations. His designs are distinguished by a desire to create living environments that enhance the lives of their occupants through clearly articulated spaces imbued with elegant detailing.
