Lovell O’Connell Architects Ltd (LOCA) is a Wellington, New Zealand based architecture practice.
Lovell O’Connell Architects Ltd was established in 2013 by principals Ana O’Connell and Tim Lovell.
Both principals are registered architects and have experience in a wide range of work within the residential, commercial and educational fields of architecture.
Many projects they were involved in have been the recipient of awards for architecture, including 18 NZIA awards and finalist in 2012 Home of the year.
The practices first project, the Wanaka House was a finalist for New Zealand’s most prestigious residential award, Home of the Year 2014 and was recipient of a 2016 NZIA New Zealand Architecture Award.
The practice maintains a small office in Wellington that strives to build trusted relationships with clients and to produce architecture that is both pragmatic and innovative.
About Tim Lovell
Born and breed in Dunedin and Central Otago, Tim moved to Wellington in 1998 to study Architecture at Victoria University, where he formed a firm friendship within Ana. After graduating in 2002, Tim worked at John Wright Architect Ltd a practice focused on social housing, health and government projects.
At Parsonson Architects, in his role as a Project Architect, Tim was involved in high end,design based residential projects with a focus on craft. Three of these projects won NZIA branch awards, with one of the projects, the Peka Peka House, shortlisted for a New Zealand award.
Tim has an active family life in Wellington. He maintains strong ties back to Central Otago, where he spent a large part of his childhood.
About Ana O’Connell
A Wellington native, prior to founding LO’CA with Tim in 2013, Ana worked for both Tennent + Brown and Jasmax on a range of award winning residential, institutional and education projects.
Outside of the office Ana has a keen interest in tramping, gardening and keeping up with her two young kids on adventures through the town belt.
