The White Section Homestay by Wutopia Lab
The White Section Homestay designed by Wutopia Lab in Suzhou was opened in October 2021 in West Lindu Village on the shore of Taihu Lake.
Wutopia Lab is founded by the chief architect Yu Ting in Shanghai, which is an architecture company based on a new paradigm of complex system. Wutopia Lab regards Shanghai’s culture and life style as a starting point, using architecture as a tool to promote sociological progress within building practice.
The studio focuses on human and is dedicated to link different aspects of urban life: traditional, daily and cultural to interpret Urbanian lifestyle, and to develop a contemporary Chinese aesthetic based on Shanghai.
While facing each project, Wutopia Lab’s practices are promoted to show different innovative strategies, thinking modes and forms.
The studio is committed to comprehensive design, not only to complete the concept and deepen of buildings, but also focuses on early planning and analysis along with landscape and interior design. Wutopia Lab also has the capacity to coordinate and collaborate different types of departments and on-site construction.

Wutopia Lab designed Building 3 for Fortune Art Homestay, Xiyaotou Village, “Stangers” – Room with a rejected view, which was opened at the end of June 2021.
Wutopia Lab designed Duoyun Bookstore in Huangyan, which was officially completed and grandly opened on June 26, 2021.
Wutopia Lab’s Toyou Bookstore designed for the CIFI Group opened to the public on May 1, 2021, and in just three weeks, this new bookstore became the No.1 in the ranking bookstore and audio-visual stores in Huangpu District by Popular Review.
Wutopia Lab has completed Sinan books poetry store with the concept of ‘ Church in church’ , using 45 tons of steel in the historic site of St. Nicholas Church in Shanghai. As the largest professional poetry bookstore in Shanghai, it offers 1000 poetry books in different languages.
The Fairyland Premium Kids Café designed by Wutopia Lab is officially open to the public in Dalian on May 28th, 2019. The brand is mutually owned by PACEE Education and Fairyland so that there will be shared resources from PACEE that the client wishes kids can enjoy learning with entertainment.
The client, founder of Fengyuzhu, hoped to display the architectural models of all the famous contemporary Chinese architects in this museum. His inspiration came from Archi-Depot, an architectural model museum situated at a warehouse in Tokyo.
Duoyun Books on the 52nd floor of Shanghai’s tallest building, Shanghai Tower. The Douyun Books flagship store is a small culture complex with seven different functions, including bookstore, lecture room, exhibition, coffee, dessert and light meal.
Wutopia Lab recently designed an entirely white Zhongshu Bookstore in Xi’an, one of the most ancient cities in China which used to be the capital for thirteen dynasties, with 300 tons of steel and 30,000 meters of light strips.
Wutopia Lab was invited by Shenzhen Biennale to rejuvenate the building NO.4 and building NO.5 in Dameisha Village. The urban-village is a slum with Chinese characteristics. Architects hope to break the invisible limit between the city and the village through the activation of the site.
The whole new Shanghai apartment is a symbolic text which contains castle, forest, sky, curtain, distorting mirror or space capsule (arc stainless steel), jigsaw (tile pattern in bathroom), stage, tent and greening wall.
