About Ema Peter
Ema is the principle of Ema Peter Photography. In the past 8 years she has works with some of the largest architectural, interior design and engineering firms in North America. Ema’s photography has helped many of these firms reach award winning status.
Her images have been published in Architectural Digest, Objekt International, Dwell, Wired, New York Times and many more.
Ema holds a masters degree in art and applied photography from the national academy of theatre and film arts in Sofia Bulgaria as well as a PHD in Photojournalism.
She started her career as a TV anchor on Bulgarian National TV and then as an intern at Magnum Photo Agency in Paris. She then led one of the largest photography teams in North America at VRX Studios Inc. She was also the lead photographer for ad campaigns at Hilton, Hyatt and Fairmont and was responsible for creating photography standards for some of the top hotel brands around the world.

The concept for this Edgemont Family Home was inspired by the surrounding coastal rainforest and the homeowners love for mid-century design. To enter the house you are brought down several steps, through the soft pink front door, into the main floor of the home.

Lagoon House sits on Alta Lake in the resort municipality of Whistler. A sculptural mass of angles, the building is a contextual reflection of its site and landscape, a trapezoidal lot surrounded by a forest of towering conifers, deep-green lake waters, loamy soil, and carpet upon carpet of pine needles.

The design of the West Los Angeles Residence begins with the story of its inhabitants. Two families had become one, and they needed a space that could meet the needs of their new family. Though many considered the lot to be unbuildable due to restrictive bylaws in the area, the clients and Measured found it to be the perfect opportunity to nestle a modern yet modest home into the semi-rural environment.
The Brick house was a collaboration with a family with four young children. Through discussions with the couple, it became clear that they wanted a clean modern brick house while at the same time it was important that the house encouraged play.
From inception this house had an ambitious brief: create a family home equal parts warm, modern light filled ski cabin that also incorporates the best locally sourced materials, natural fabrics, and leading eco friendly standards and building practices.
The Sooke house, made for a woman and her dog sits on a rocky knoll where the forest meets the sea. A small clearing nested among the trees upon the knoll provides slices of ocean and mountains through the trunks of the large pacific northwest rainforest.
