About James Morris

James Morris (b. 1963) is a British photographer whose work focuses principally on landscape and the built environment. Known earlier in his career primarily as an architectural photographer, over the last decade he has looked more broadly at landscape issues from urbanism to human conflict.

His work, which is published and exhibited internationally, has received awards from D&AD, the Graham Foundation for advanced studies in the fine Arts, the EU and the Arts Council. It is in many private and public collections including The British Council, The Museum of African Art in New York, Princeton University and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. His architectural photography, principally commissioned by architects, designers and book publishers, aims to communicate the concept and impact of a building or structure through carefully considered and precisely composed single images, that as a series present an expressive portrait of the subject.
