The ambition of the project was to inscribe the owners’ joint experiences as a couple into the spatial character of the building, and provide a new context for their current life together as a family with two young boys.
Designed and built for a property developer who necessitated quality and integrity, this residence focused on sustainability, luxury and longevity to stand the test of time.
This beachside house was designed and constructed following devastating bushfires along the south coast of the Otway ranges in Christmas 2015.
Wallaby Hill house had just recently been shortlisted for the 2022 Houses Awards, Category New House over 200m2. The original brief for the house was a holiday home – however, due to the global pandemic, the brief changed to a full-time residence.
The Ripple House is a series of unfurling spaces defined by subtle shifts in the site and light. Discreetly positioned behind a single-fronted Victorian façade, the addition reinvents the previously disconnected floorplan, creating a highly adaptable family home connected to its garden.
The Bournian House resembles a rectangular origami of concrete and glass. The project’s ambition is a design of calm expression, heightened experience, and seamless function.
JARtB House reconnects the abandoned notion that Art and Architecture are separate, techne. Part House and part Art Gallery, the synthesis of the two typologies are redefined into a singular expression. A new hybrid is institutionalized.
The brief expressed a desire for north-facing living areas to accommodate extended family and friends, creating strong spatial distinctions between living, dining and kitchen areas and facilitating moments for the family to connect.
Our response was inspired and directed by the client’s determined assertion that she was merely the current caretaker of this ‘old lady’; of this building that had preceded and would surely succeed her into the future.

RaeRae house is a new five-bedroom family home which incorporates the front of two pre-existing terrace homes. A glazed entry, set back between the heritage buildings, unites the two and forms the gateway to the new build, surprising in light and scale.
