Looking at Pablo Muñoz Payá’s project “A home for Ana and Pau” we can see how the antithesis of this perception can be achieved, free from the connotations that such typologies may entail.
The Ledge House clients asked us to design a new home that would resonate with the history of the Connecticut Valley, include a material palette that is environmentally friendly, and works with the challenging site on a large rock ledge.

Fitzroy Terrace is an intricate re-working of a previously run-down double-storey terrace in the gritty, northern fringes of Fitzroy. The design itself represents a real ‘obscuring’ between the old and the new through the deliberate play of thresholds and vertical journeys through the internal spaces.
The duplex apartment is located on the 13 and 14 floor of one of the high rise buildings at the old north part of Tel aviv. The entrance level which is on the upper floor of the duplex consists of a living room, a kitchen and master bedroom with shower and toilet.
This minimalist Spanish duplex is surrounded by five-storey blocks of flats and, consequently, the lack of privacy on the terraces, which would restrict extended use of these, worried the client.
The new system of this Italian stone house stands on ancient remains dating back to Medieval Communes. Linked to each other on the hypogeum level, the structures rest on a red concrete platform (38 X 20 mt) dominating the surrounding landscape.
