Geode ADU is a small (640 square feet) recently completed accessory dwelling unit that supplements and contrasts an existing mid-century modern Eichler house in Burlingame, CA.
The project marks the corner of Fourth and Channel Streets as a gateway to San Francisco’s burgeoning new Mission Bay south neighborhood. It houses 150 low income, and formerly homeless individuals and families, currently including 261 children.
The design of the Camelback Residence transports residents to a remote desert-oasis despite its location in a well-populated, suburban neighborhood. The single-story, 10,000sqft house rests on a gradually sloping, two-acre site that is shielded from its surroundings by a low concrete wall and diverse desert planting

The new design frames expansive views at all floors, and embraces an open plan at the living levels. The rear of the Noe Valley residence is unapologetically modern in expression with asymmetrical massing and scissoring corten steel and cast concrete walls by landscape architects Surface Design Inc.
