Mantiqueira House is a private residence designed by Una Arquitetos, an association of architects formed in 1996 by the Architecture and Urbanism College, University of São Paulo. The house is built on top of Mantiqueira, a 500 km mountain range that crosses the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
Echoing the grandeur of the Teton Mountain Range whilst seamlessly inhabiting the adjacent grassland, the Wyoming Residence exhibits a conscientious marriage of form and material. The property’s zoning restrictions were artfully managed with careful assimilation into the natural landscape.
The owners of this dwelling wanted to build an ABATON house, but it was crucial for them from the very beginning to achieve the feeling of a “home”. This is why we thought it would be better to refurbish an existing house with a consolidated plan and garden that would later accommodate the contemporary architecture that we proposed.
