“Pointer Perch,” a Fishers Island, NY retreat completed in 2022, is sited high on a rocky hill overlooking The mantra for the design of the 1,200 square foot house was to build just what was needed for a couple and their dog, and nothing more.

The challenge was to honor Orcas Island’s historical essence while infusing modernity. The family, proud owners of a historical farm, envisioned a quintessential farmhouse, rooted in the island’s history, and crafted from on-site materials. Wood from fir trees logged on the property became the siding and interior, blending tradition with contemporary design.
