The public area of the Manhattan Soho Loft was virtually one big open space, which Ghislaine sectioned off into their own areas with distinct furniture layouts.
The space needs to be flexible and adjustable to different family circumstances and numbers of occupants. We have designed several projects which explore this idea with moveable components that transform the character, function and levels of privacy of the home.
We designed this renovation of a historic 3,000-sf loft that occupies the entire floor of a triangular, Renaissance Revival-style building overlooking Union Square.
This raw and brutal space, carved with lights and shadows, inspired an approach to multiply suggestions through minimal details, composing a narrative that is never unique but free and multifaceted.
Worrell Yeung’s Broadway Loft project consists of the gut renovation of a unit in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan’s historic Gilsey House building, originally a Beaux Arts style hotel built in 1867, for a couple and their young son.
To this renovation, it has not only changed its use but also through the different materials and colours it’s been transformed into a bright and fresh loft.
The RCB Loft, arises from the need of a young client who was looking for a new space to live. The land was the first starting point for the design of the house, a rectangular land measuring 11.00 by 20.00 meters with a front facing north.
Architects Maria Alice Crippa and Gustavo Assis, realized that the role of the house also interferes in stimulating the sensations, which are responsible for providing this inner reunion. From this perspective, we idealized LOFT ON LIFE, an affective welcoming space, to embrace and bring comfort through the senses.
An old printing office, in Avenidas Novas, Lisbon, has been transformed into a loft due to a total renovation, illustrating how carefully designed spatial aesthetic solutions can dignify a prior decaying and gloomy space.
The LoVt3 Apartment is located on the slopes of Montjuic in Barcelona. The closeness to Refugio 307, bomb shelter tunnels built to protect citizens during the Spanish civil war is not casual and appears to be an appropriate metaphor.
Carrying on the tradition of student-built desert shelters at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, ‘The Loft’ was designed, constructed, and inhabited as a final year thesis project at The School of Architecture at Taliesin.
