Reduction Residence thoughtfully distills open and private environments to create a serene family dwelling. While the overall layout of the home stayed intact, we removed extraneous interior walls to create more open spaces.
Set amongst the dunes and Moonah trees of Sorrento Back beach, this project comprises a new home for a family of four. Their brief was for a family home that respected the coastal site and provided a home that was luxurious, yet also relaxed.
Our clients, David and Anson, wished to make the most of their sun baked rear garden in East London and posed us a spatial puzzle of wishing to move the existing ground floor bathroom without compromising any of the other rooms.
The São Lázaro Apartments proposed the demolition of the interior, already very changed, in order to rebuild the building, rehabilitating the existing facade and expanding it by two floors to hide the existing gable with the adjacent building.
Our work at the Elsternwick Residence involved the restoration and re-imagining of a substantial Edwardian house. The project was a great opportunity to deploy the principles of complete design embodied by the Arts and Crafts movement
