Sited high in the hills, the original Via Media residence was designed with balcony/deck access in every single room, opening up to the nature and tranquility just minutes away from downtown Austin.
Located in a building built in the 60’s in the city of Sao Paulo, the Retrofit Project of this Apartment started from two basic premises, one requested by the client and the other imposed by the existing property.
A remodel of an existing 1938 bungalow in an historic central Austin neighborhood, the design aims to preserve the character of the context with a humble front facade, while unfolding and transforming in the back to accommodate small and large social gatherings.
This 100 m2 Loft with structure and apparent installations is located in the noble neighborhood of Morumbi, in São Paulo. Diego Revollo invested in elegant finishes and original solutions to adapt the spaces.
SHED Architecture & Design, together with interior designer Jennie Gruss, gave this 1957 midcentury home—originally designed by PNW architect, Arnold Gangnes—a fresh update for a young family in Seattle, Washington.
The challenge from the beginning was to maximize the hardscape and landscape areas at the rear of the house to include a pool, a yard, and exterior living space. The Green Oak residence focuses on modern minimal casework details with a distinct emphasis on textures and materials.
The team did a lot of “visual listening” to elicit solutions that honor and preserve the spirit of the original residence while upgrading finishes and updating and refining the plan geometry and adjacencies to maximize function and beauty. I am honored to have been chosen to follow the work of one of Texas’ finest.
