Nestled within the serene landscape of a two-acre nut orchard in Wandiligong, just a stone’s throw from Bright in Victoria’s High Country (Australia), the historic farmhouse of Wandi Valley possessed plenty of rustic charm awaiting a transformative touch.
The investors wanted to create a holiday home, a secluded family space for relaxation and fun with the children. Without giving up everyday comfort, they wanted to experience the closeness of nature.
Originally built in the 1890s, the Federation house had been renovated several times and was ready for a complete transformation. Located on a beautiful tree lined street in St Kilda West the site has direct access to Jacoby Reserve, a small neighbourhood park.
The aim of Kipseli Architects is to facilitate and balance this upcoming move, since the owners’ desire for the renovation of their new home in the woods, was to reflect memories from their lives in the city.
The client briefed us to harness the vibrancy and uniqueness of the existing house and to sensitively enhance this by adding the proportions necessary for a life filled with pleasure, comfort and human connection.
