Old Pond Way Retreat is a modern family refuge inspired by a rugged, simply crafted cabin in the Morgedal region of Norway where the client’s family have been gathering since the 1950s to enjoy nature and build memories.
Located on broad sweeping ranch lands overlooking a lake, Gambel Oaks Ranch was designed to blend into its surroundings and is not visible from any public roadways.
The site is a pristine forested natural landscape, entered from the north. A significant challenge was to minimize impact on the sensitive site and accommodate the gable roofs required by design guidelines.
The five-acre site of the Woody Creek Residence, which borders a slight bend in a creek, is comprised of a large meadow and a narrow secondary lower bench at the edge of the creek.
