A mountain cedar cottage for ski weekends, for a family with 2 children. The project simply draws itself through the landscape as a black stroke hurtling down the slope. This axis, heavily marked by the shape of the house, points towards the south as well as Mount Sutton …
Paul Bernier Architecte
Paul Bernier Architecte is a Montreal-based contemporary architecture firm with almost two decades of experience in the residential, commercial, and office sectors.
Honoured with numerous local and international awards and accolades, our design work includes renovations, extensions and new builds. Although our offices are located in the heart of Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood, we create projects for both urban settings and natural environments throughout Quebec. Among them are homes and chalets built in the Laurentians, Eastern Townships, and Lower Saint-Lawrence regions.
We chose to make a low rise house, mostly one-storey, whose sinuous shape is guided by the nature that surrounds it. The building itself folds, opens and tightens like a river digging its bed.
On a wooded lot on the shore of Lake Charlebois, our clients wanted to build a contemporary house, luminous and open to the nature. They wanted most of the spaces of the house to be level with the land.
