A typical mid-century home in a Carmel Valley subdivision was in need of an envelope upgrade, a new kitchen and bathroom, and a good home office.
The site for this urban apartment project was located about several minutes on foot from the nearest station. It was surrounded by houses and residential complexes except to the north, which borders a street.
The existing houses, generally isolated, and very often with a single-storey structure, reveal the agricultural fields. The Troviscal house to be recovered brought something new.
