Elizabeth Herrmann Architecture + Design offers a full range of services tailored to each client–from early planning, site selection and design (rough sketches to construction-ready drawings), to helping clients obtain permits and choose the right builder. We guide clients through technical details, interior and exterior finishes, kitchen and bath design, lighting, as well as fixture and fitting selection. We oversee construction and coordinate among many specialized professionals and artisans to bring projects to fruition.
We work with clients to incorporate healthy, green or low-maintenance building materials in their projects, meet energy-efficiency goals, or employ sustainable practices. For clients desiring certification in a particular program, we’ll lead and manage the process. EHA+D is a member of Efficiency Vermont’s Efficiency Excellence Network, a prequalified group of professionals committed to providing the highest level of energy efficiency services to our clients.

The building, we conceptualized, would be a modern interpretation of the antecedent to which it would attach– bold but harmonious.
A run-down pool house was removed and in its place this new, energy-efficient, low-maintenance pool house was born. As both poolside entertainment and year-round guest space just minutes from Mad River area ski resorts, the new building is proving to be a well-used addition to the property.
The Gable and Plane House nestles into its Northeast Kingdom mountainside, and takes in views from the forest uphill and the White Mountains downhill. The project’s forms are both elegant and practical
This 1,100 sq. ft. 3-bedroom cottage in the Mad River valley was designed by architect Elizabeth Herrmann for a family of four who dreamed of downsizing and reducing energy consumption.
The Knoll Retreat was designed to have a strong presence, but not overwhelm the site. We let the land, views, and trees shape it and create a framework for intertwined interior and exterior rooms.
