The Shadow house had to offer privacy from the busy south facing side street whilst benefit from northern sunlight. Therefore, the new monolithic form is windowless to the south side street with the ground floor set back to the south boundary.

Pond House Marrandillas is about to turn 117 years old and has had a colourful and full life to date.
Located in Melbourne, Pod House is a family home extended and renovated by Nic Owen Architects. The owners of this existing Victorian house located in Fitzroy North wished to renovate and extend to better cater for their family of 5. The 1980’s rear skillion extension was removed and replaced with an open place living ‘pod’.
This modest sized semi-detached clinker brick house in Hampton is located on a generous allotment. The owners required more space and desired a strong connection to the outside. The well travelled couple wanted a tranquil, calm and relaxing environment to call home.
This suburban house extension is an example of responsible rationalisation of a typical suburban home which offers a stimulating environment and demonstrates environmentally sustainable design. The project is located on a 740m2 site in Kew.
