The house resembles a jewel box: small, quiet, and unassuming on the outside, rich and expansive on the inside.
A spectacular site is both a gift and a problem for new architecture. The positives are self-evident, the negatives less so, but apparent in single-orientation, glassy boxes which proliferate on such sites.
To this renovation, it has not only changed its use but also through the different materials and colours it’s been transformed into a bright and fresh loft.
Approaching the corner in which the front door lies, there is a powerful immersion in the darkness of the charred wood. The darkness shuts down the surroundings and builds up to a perceivable silence.
The Tiamo house is representative of the lifestyle of the people living in it, along with the concern for the journey to build and complete the house most completely and suitably.
