This traditional 1950s ranch home in the Portland Heights neighborhood needed a remodel to bring it new life for its dynamic owners. Our clients love to entertain, and wanted to create a home that was unmistakably theirs.
These four Alphington townhouses present an innovative approach to the design of medium density housing. Each townhouse has been designed with excellent connections to the outdoors, maximised access to north light, and natural ventilation. Internal spaces allow for flexibility and the varied lifestyles of inhabitants.
Carried out in a residential area of the Rosemont–La-Petite-Patrie borough, the Dandurand Multi-Dwellings project consisted in renovating and expanding a duplex built in the 1920s that housed three dwelling units. The added storey harmonized the building with the size of the surrounding constructions.
Built on a steep slope lot in Seattle with sweeping views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, the project presented a number of challenges, both technical and permit-related. As a designated Environmentally Critical Area (ECA) Steep Slope, the lot is subject to a far more rigorous standard of review than an ordinary flat lot.
This project is a light flooded second storey extension to a Californian bungalow in Northcote, Melbourne. This minimised work to the ground floor and allowed the owners to remain in occupation for a large part of the build reducing total project costs.
Small yet extremely functional, this minimal Paris apartment is an inspiring design gem. Situated in Paris 10th arrondissement it has a small kitchenette, a shower, a pull-out sofa bed and a wardrobe.
Built on the slope of Mount Shefford, the residence bridges an aerial view on one side and an ascending, rugged topography, populated by rocks and maples, on the other. The initial idea for this project was to merge with the mountain, to nestle into the terrain until it becomes one with the residence.
The Two-Way House embodies a multitude of conversations between ourselves and our clients to realize the marriage of San Francisco’s historic urban fabric with today’s modern needs/desires in a thoughtfully crafted home filled with daylight seamlessly connecting to the garden.
