A spectacular site is both a gift and a problem for new architecture. The positives are self-evident, the negatives less so, but apparent in single-orientation, glassy boxes which proliferate on such sites.
Much of the thinking behind Humble House lay not only in designing enjoyable rooms, but also in curating the journey between, conscious of experience and movement throughout the home.
Embedded into the landscape, Ha Ha Haus is located in a leafy pocket of Alphington (Wurundjeri Country) where front fences are a refreshingly rare sighting.
