Periscope House draws light into a young family’s home, adding thoughtful solutions and flexible spaces to 1950s Art Deco foundations. Our clients engaged us to undertake a considered extension to their character-rich home in Malvern East.
West Bend House was conceived as an inhabited pathway, a means to traverse the long narrow site from the street to the expansive rear garden with views over the banks of Merri Creek.
The ambition of the project was to inscribe the owners’ joint experiences as a couple into the spatial character of the building, and provide a new context for their current life together as a family with two young boys.
This project is a private residence located in Wye River, a small coastal town located along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. The project was one of three Probono projects undertaken by MGAO after the 2015 Bushfires. Our clients have a long historical connection to the Wye River, with a family connection to a man named Paddy Harrington, one of the original builders who constructed many of the town’s early Fibro Beach Shacks.
The Seat was not just affected by the global pandemic, it was born of it. Our clients, a semi-retired couple who bought the property on a whim, were seeking a weekender on the coast with room to breathe – a safe place for their grown family to escape, gather and relax.

Central House, designed by Neil Architecture, stands as a contemporary family home nestled within the native bushland of Nunawading. The design purposefully challenges the traditional suburban brick veneer style, introducing a series of modestly scaled rectilinear forms that redefine the neighborhood aesthetic.
Totoro House is an alterations and additions project on a house in Russell Lea, Sydney which formed an architectural exercise in translating the client’s close-knit bond into the physical, adopting the Japanese concept of “Shakkei” or “borrowed scenery” which harmoniously bridges the relationship between interior and exterior.
