Project: Cata-Vento House Architects: Equipe Lamas Lead Architect: Samuel Lamas Location: Brasilia, Brazil Area: 375 m² Year: 2022 Photographs: Joana França The Cata-Vento House is implanted as a flower in the arid landscape of the Cerrado Biome, the Brazilian savannah. A couple seeking tranquility and connection with nature commissioned this urban refuge located 15 minutes
The goal of the project, in line with the interests of the clients, was to build a single-story house with low construction costs, in order to adequately occupy a 2062-square-meter plot of land.
This one level concrete house is located in a quiet area of Brasilia’s outskirts. The aim was to construct a 280m² house to be mostly used during weekends, providing spaces for leisure and socializing. The major challenge was to distribute storehouse in a reduced plot area shaped in a trapezoid form and open to the greenery as much as possible.
This modern Brazilian home is located in a rural area, 40km away from the city center of Brasília. The topography has a slight downward slope towards the back of the lot, where a valley with native vegetation dominates the view.
