Designed by Bouman Arquitectura, Boratuna House is a residence that draws inspiration from traditional Catalan architecture, particularly the masia—a rural farmhouse style deeply rooted in the region’s history. The goal of the project was to create a home that feels as though it has always been part of the landscape while providing modern comfort and efficiency.
This project was an opportunity for us to demonstrate that, even in rehabilitation interventions, it is possible to successfully apply bioclimatic and passive architecture strategies using natural materials, without renouncing the beauty and contemporaneity of the architectural language.
Located in a small valley of Vallés in Catalonia, this Spanish farmhouse was reborn a few years ago with the creation of horse stable linked to the property. The starting point for the grand renovation was a three-floor building with austere structure and following the lower height buildings added throughout the time around it.

This modern italian -style villa is characterized by the combination modern and strong lines, open spaces, softened by the use of natural materials such as stone walls bathed by the constant presence of natural light.
The minimalistic style of the redevelopment invokes the austerity of past times. There is a dialogue between the new work and the old medieval house that seeks to marry past and present. The entry of natural light gives form to the volumes, and the fluidity of the spaces is accentuated.
This is a renovation of a modernist apartment of 180 m2 with a patio of 87 m2 located in the city of Barcelona. The client’s intention was to transform a classic home in Barcelona’s Eixample into a modern and contemporary family apartment.
