Located in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood, Grace House is a full renovation and addition to a house from the 1890s creating a connected and light-filled home for a young family with a segregated second suite at the lowest level.
This is an interior renovation project of an existing two-story timber structure house in Tokyo which was built approximately 40 years ago. The clients, a young couple and the wife’s parents, were already living here before the renovation.
Located in Hawthorn, this early Victorian House, known as ‘ Grasmere house ’, has been transformed into a bright and welcoming family home, whilst also retaining, and celebrating its original Victorian character.
A couple with two young children wish to transform a duplex located in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie into their principal family residence. The project consists in reorganizing the original portion of the house and enlarging it with an extension in the yard while preserving the façade on the street as required by the city bylaws.
The typical terrace 2 up 2 down house layout suffers from a narrow plan form with a set of corridor like circulation spaces. Ground floor spaces are often rooms off this cellular corridor with bedrooms at first floor compromised due to the non active circulation space that runs from front to back of the building.
The brief given by our client for this Victorian Terrace was to create a space in which they could relax but also entertain guests. When replanning their dining and formal living areas, we played with textures to create an engaging space suitable for various uses.
The Oakland Hills house was built originally in 1939, the house renovation aimed to update the property by creating a modern, spacious interior, without expanding its original footprint. The two-level house is perched on a hillside lot, overlooking Oakland and the San Francisco East Bay.
