Mirror Point Cottage is a vacation home for a local fisherman’s daughter, her Dutch minimalist husband, and their two young children, on a lake near Annapolis Royal in Nova Scotia.
This residence’s occupancy program has been fragmented into four pavilions, according to an organic plan, freeing a central space that looks completely outward. A little like the “heart of a village”, this space links the other building bodies, geometrically distinct from each other.
The renovation of this century-old midtown Toronto residence for an empty-nester couple converts it into a warm, modern, light-filled space that welcomes the sky and the gardens on the property. Three dormers were added to the front, back and side of the existing house.
