NZ10 apartment is the result of a renovation from an old bakery from the 80s into a home.
The apartment is located on a ground floor in one of the densest neighborhoods in Palma.
The reform of this house, designed in 1988 by architect and designer Antoni Roselló Til, starts from maintaining its essence and playing with its most distinctive attributes, such as primary geometries or finishing touches.

A dismal old book warehouse is completely transformed into a bright and airy residence-atelier with a double apartment and patio-verandah plus a separate additional apartment unit.
The previous state of the Sardenya apartment belonged to a way of living incompatible with the requirements of the new owner. These new requirements, even starting from the domestic conventionality, left enough freedom to treat the new apartment in a less corseted way.
We are commissioned for a 140 m2 dwelling refurbishment located on Verdi Street in the Barcelona’s Garcia neighbourhood. The structure of the house has one drawback: of the 16 pieces that make it up, only 5 are connected to the exterior, either to the street or to the interior block patio, leading, as there is no additional patio, to a dwelling especially dark in its centre.
In the Salamanca house project we have moved the kitchen to the center of the house and we have eliminated most of the corridor linking the rooms and suppressing partition walls. The distinction between spaces has been made with furniture.
The first challenge was to transform an old gloomy floor into a bright house. The change of distribution and the new orientation of the common areas that now cross the entire floor, allows light to cross from one end to the other.
The Barcelona Duplex was recently completed by Raul Sanchez Architects. The starting point was two independent dwellings on top of each other on the ground floor and mezzanine of a modest, old apartment building between dividing walls in the heart of the Raval (Barcelona).
The strategy used for an energy-efficient home is to reduce its consumption by means of good covering insulation of the building and a good use of the heat gain and loss.
