This project was driven almost exclusively by the goal to orient each of the living spaces toward views of Flathead Lake. The dynamic site is both deep and steep with three tiers of land that transition from the road down to the lake.
Briefed by the client, TR Studio were tasked to create a countryside lodge that was a flexible and multi-functional space which could be used as a workspace for the homeowners during the day
Balancing a rich history, delicate environment, and modern needs, Cushing Terrell renovated the Canyon Lodge at Yellowstone National Park to restore the structure’s original vibrancy and character.
Inspired by the deprivations endured by survivors from the foundered Dunedin Star and the desolate and harsh Skeleton Coast landscape, the architects tried to capture the contrast between shelter and exposure in their Shipwreck Lodge design (named after the architectural concept).
The Walsh’s work in the urban core but want to truly wind down when they head home and casually entertain friends. They purchased a waterfront lot on Weatherby Lake with the vision of creating a “Modern Lodge”.
