MK5 is the latest project of Ortraum Architects, built for one of the partners of the office and his family of five. The Angular house is placed on a south-west sloping 500m2 site, located on the Jollas Peninsula east of the Helsinki city centre.

This Energy Efficient House project was about breaking new ground, healing wounds, making a fresh start, collaboration, cooperation, listening, site-specific sensitivity, efficiency, cost effective design – in short, what we think architecture is about.
The client inherited an unattractive “McMansion” with poor spatial layout from his father. The modern finnish house was designed to meet the tastes of the former generation. The site also featured a large pompous garden with extensive manicured lawns.
Stormvillan is a Finnish house situated right at the heart of the historic villa district. The main floor opens out to three directions: The living room to a long view out to sea, the lounge west for sunsets across the dining terrace and the master bedroom takes in the junipers and wind blown pinetrees of the cliff it stands on.
