For this apartment, set within a building from the late 1960 on Corso Sempione, the Turin-based duo has applied its immediately recognizable style to reinterpret a typical bourgeois Milanese home in a highly original way.
With a vast program to be fulfilled, the MSS house, was built through a mixed structural system (reinforced concrete and metallic structure), since the client came to us with the intention of realizing a residence with simple solutions and fast execution.
Concerning a reflection about the space and function occupied by cars in urban spaces nowadays, Marchi Architects (Renault’s 2016 competition winners) designed a portable house in order to give a new meaning for cars, which became fully-integrated in a house.
The Portobello house is contiguous to the land, providing a perception of single-storey house on all floors, while the floors become slabs in suspension, that is, terraces in height.
