The site is a modest 60 feet by 75 feet, in a dense layout of multi-generational apartments five stories tall. It is abutted by roads on the North and West, these being the only sides not having buildings in close proximity.

The smallest plot size available in most of the residential layouts of the city is about 200 sq yards. A Large requirement on such a small plot called for an introverted solution with a garden at the center, around which the rest of the spaces function.
