This home challenges notions of a coastal suburban home. The external living spaces are in the front yard, not concealed from the neighbours. The main living room references the soft blue glow of a suburban night and appears from the street as a frame
Ross house sits proudly within a characteristically diverse heritage precinct. The bold form of Ross house is flanked by two low rendered forms that enhance the presence of the neighbouring dwellings and clearly demarcate the line between public and private spaces beyond.
The remodel of this 1932 Tudor style suburban home in Newton, Massachusetts re-imagines a traditional, compartmentalized layout into a more informal living arrangement for a young family moving to the suburbs from the city.
