As an urban infill project in Austin, TX, Mark Odom Studio explored the formal arrangement of the duplex typology while being sensitive to the residents’ physical and visual privacy. Sol retreat is a new build house on a vacant lot in the Willo Historic District in midtown Phoenix. Inspired by the southwestern urban vernacular of the courtyard house, we designed the home to both embrace and escape the sun and the city.
The AMB House is situated on the coast of São Paulo, Guaruja City in the middle of the Atlantic Forest. From the street you can only see one of the three floors of the house because the terrain has accentuated slopes that give different views of an almost untouched natural landscape.
Not only the new residential pavilion, but also the complete internal renovation of the house was part of the project. The main entrance of the house is been moved to the facade of the new pavilion.
