BOFF Coffee Shenzhen occupies a prime corner location at Runyao Mansion in the Guangming District, transforming four original storefronts into a hybrid space that blends community engagement with commercial versatility. Conceived as both a transitional sales venue and a permanent neighborhood hub, the design integrates a striking new façade, extended outdoor seating, and a flexible interior that adapts to multiple functions.
Façade Design with Urban Presence
The aluminum panel façade draws inspiration from traditional architectural eaves, adding depth and character to the street corner. A bar seating zone facing the street encourages interaction between customers and the surrounding urban life. Expansive, fully operable glazing dissolves the boundary between inside and out, while the semi-open structure beneath the canopy doubles as a communal platform for local events and gatherings.
Bringing the Streetscape Inside
The interior extends the energy of the streetscape indoors, integrating landscaping elements throughout. Green ceramic tiles behind the main bar echo the lush vegetation outside, while planter boxes of varying heights create natural partitions without blocking sightlines. This design strategy produces zones that feel both open and intimate. A warm palette of beige textured paint and wood veneer complements the rustic, approachable atmosphere, and original load-bearing walls are softened with strategically placed gray mirror panels.
Details That Enhance Comfort and Flexibility
The semi-open ceiling design incorporates timber beams fitted with adjustable track lighting. Removable fixtures allow lighting positions to be adapted for different events and layouts. Seating areas combine leather cushions with wood accents, enhancing comfort and clearly defining each zone. Engineered wood flooring adds warmth underfoot, while localized inserts of black gravel and natural stone bring an element of organic texture and playfulness.
By merging thoughtful architecture, natural materials, and multifunctional design, BOFF Coffee Shenzhen establishes itself as more than just a café. It is a vibrant, adaptable community space that fosters interaction, creativity, and connection in one of the city’s emerging neighborhoods.
