Gray Puksand partnered with Launch Housing, a community organization that provides homelessness services to disadvantaged Victorians, to design their new Collingwood Hub. The brief was to create an inspiring space that reflects their client values and culture, supporting the consolidation of existing teams into a single, agile workspace.
Design Concept
The use of color in the Collingwood Hub is a standout feature, representing the architecture, landscape, and textures of Victoria. Terracotta tones mimic the local brickwork, while bursts of color reimagine the Collingwood mural. Additionally, blue tones reflect the Alps, and earthy colors evoke the Yarra Park walks.
Sustainability
This project prioritizes sustainability, using carpet tiles from discontinued lines, excess stock, and samples to create a striking and playful design. Consequently, this approach challenges the misconception that sustainable design is inherently more expensive, proving that eco-friendly solutions can be cost-effective and visually appealing.
Workspace Functionality
The agile workspace includes various functional areas, such as collaborative workspaces, phone booths, nooks, and quiet rooms. This thoughtful layout addresses the need for confidentiality and privacy, allowing staff to book rooms based on their privacy requirements.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Launch Housing’s Collingwood Hub showcases Gray Puksand’s dedication to eco-friendly design and cost-effective sustainability. The inspiring and functional space not only reflects the values and culture of Launch Housing but also sets a benchmark for sustainable workplace design.
