Rhyme sought to maximize the architectural potential of Copper Apartment, a 78-square-meter flat in Moscow. This apartment boasts several advantages, such as high ceilings and densely positioned panoramic windows that flood the space with natural light. Despite its compact size, the apartment is efficiently designed to include a large kitchen-living room, a small hallway, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms.

Rhyme aimed to create an interior that is meticulously thought out yet retains an element of spontaneity and lightness. The design follows a palette logic where the most concentrated and contrasting colors are found in the living room, gradually becoming calmer towards the bedrooms. This approach aligns with the client’s desire for a colorful interior.

The living room features a bold and vibrant color scheme with a red-mustard sofa, a turquoise carpet designed by Rhyme, a burgundy armchair, and a chair with a fir tree pattern. The centerpiece is a large electric blue mirror by Christophe Gagnon. Instead of a dining table, the space includes a small island table for quick snacks or breakfast.

The kitchen presented a challenge due to the use of capricious quartzite, which is difficult to repolish or restore. However, this choice made the small kitchen truly spectacular. The bedroom has more subdued colors but includes custom-designed items by Rhyme, such as a carpet, console table, and stone stand. To maintain the room’s two windows, Rhyme opted against a separate dressing room, instead placing wardrobes along one wall with a passage to the bathroom.

The master bathroom features a free-standing sink partially concealed by mirrored facades and a long Agape mixer tap. Despite the project’s overall simplicity and restraint, Rhyme paid meticulous attention to details such as handles, switches, and door carvings, all developed with careful consideration of proportions, dosage, and materials.

From start to finish, the design process of Copper Apartment flowed seamlessly, creating a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, embodying a sense of effortless sophistication.
