Minarc’s Nagle residence, located in Studio City, Los Angeles, beautifully blends space, function, and spirituality. The design team at Minarc created a personal retreat for the residents, integrating personalized art pieces, carefully chosen indoor plants, and Buddhist shrines. Large windows provide ample cross ventilation, and strategic lighting enhances the ambiance, reflecting Minarc’s philosophy that natural light and living interiors uplift the spirit.
A Home with a Heartfelt Backstory
Vic Anderson and his wife, Nanea Reeves, initially asked Minarc to design their dream home. Vic, known for his humanitarian work, impacted many lives before his passing in 2015. Tragically, the home they were building burned down three months after his death. Nanea then asked Minarc to rebuild, resulting in the Nagle house, which honors Vic’s memory and their shared vision.
A Seamless Blend of Design and Emotion
The Nagle house combines aesthetic appeal with deep emotional significance. The facade features a welcoming entrance with an artistic gate made of cement and dark wood. Inside, the design maintains a theme of white and light wood, particularly in the spacious kitchen, which contrasts with the dining area filled with personal art pieces. These elements contribute to a space that feels both modern and personal.
Personal Touches and Memorials
Erla Dogg Ingjaldsdottir, Minarc’s co-founder, contributed two personalized artworks to the home. In the powder room, one artwork features a black sand wall with moss accents, inspired by the natural beauty of Iceland and Hawaii. Another piece under the staircase serves as a memorial to Vic Anderson, incorporating a small blue wave on a black sand beach—originally painted by Vic before the first home was lost. This artwork symbolizes new beginnings while honoring the past.
Ascending the staircase reveals the bright and airy master bedroom. The design continues to blend natural elements with the interior, using features like a light surrounding a lava rock to maintain the connection between the indoors and the natural world outside.
The Nagle house by Minarc captures a deep connection to personal history, resilience, and thoughtful design, creating a living space that is both functional and emotionally resonant. Every detail in the home contributes to a space filled with light, art, and a profound sense of purpose.
