Net Zero Row House began as two architects designing and building a home for their family in the Capitol Hill / H Street neighborhood of Washington DC.
Teass \ Warren Architects is a Washington DC based architectural and interior design practice, with a focus on residential and commercial projects.
Will Teass, AIA LEED AP, is the co-founder and Managing Principal.
His exceptional projects include Mercury Public Affairs at Boilermaker, Heiner Contemporary and several multifamily buildings in Washington, DC. Many of his exemplary designs have been featured in The New York Times, ArchitectureDC, and The Washington Business Journal.
Licensed as an architect in Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland with over twenty-two years of experience, Will received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Architecture from Princeton University. He is a nationally recognized speaker who focuses on design excellence and management best practices.
He has presented cases before the DC Historic Preservation Board, DC Board of Zoning Adjustment and Zoning Commission and other local review boards. In addition, he has launched “Blueprints for Growth,” a conversation series with professionals focused on the challenges of entrepreneurship within the design community.
Will currently serves as an at-large board member for AIA Washington DC Chapter and is an active member of ULI Washington’s NEXT program. He is a frequent guest critic on design juries at Catholic University, University of Maryland and University of Virginia.
Charles Warren, AIA, LEED AP, co-founder and Principal of Design, brings to the practice over 20 years of exceptional design experience. He is primarily focused on leading and elevating the quality of every project.
His background includes work of varying sizes and typologies, including master planning, mixed-use, multi-family, single-family custom homes, and commercial interiors. This unique perspective allows for creative architectural solutions to projects of all scales and complexities. With an emphasis on improving the urban environment through infill projects in the Washington, DC region, Charles’ deep understanding of local regulations greatly informs his design process. He is particularly focused on creating affordable and attainable housing imbued with high quality design and timeless detailing.
Accustomed to working with small and large teams he believes the best solutions come from a collaborative process where all contributors, from the architects to talented consultants and owners, participate and have agency in the work. He believes this is critical for effective management and ultimately successful projects.
Charles received a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is licensed to practice architecture in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Charles can often be heard speaking for various organizations and universities where he enjoys mentoring and inspiring young designers and adding his expertise to the global architectural conversation.
