W O V E N Architecture and Design specializes in West Coast Modern custom residential design. Our philosophy approaches all aspects of design as a cohesive whole where architecture, landscape, and interiors are woven together. We work closely with our clients to provide functional concepts which are translated into beautiful forms, integrated within the stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. We believe that elegance is the result of strong and simple ideas executed thoughtfully and carefully. Throughout every project, consideration is given to all aspects, both inside and out, during all phases of design and construction. Our process results in warm modern homes, personalized to our clients and nestled in the landscape.
Julian Carnrite Architect AIBC
Julian is passionate about form and function. With a keen eye for proportion and scale, Julian ensures that architectural form is based on functional concepts. Julian received his Masters Degree in Architecture at Dalhousie University in Halifax NS and has worked in several notable firms in Vancouver, Toronto, and London England. In 2017 Julian started his own practice based on Salt Spring Island. In 2020, after three successful years of practice in custom residential design, Julian started WOVEN Architecture and Design with Genevieve Graham.

Genevieve Graham
Genevieve began her career in design in 2000 as a fashion designer. In 2004 she co-founded the acclaimed clothing label Obakki where she was head women’s designer. After several successful collections Genevieve returned to her own private label, Genevieve Graham Clothing. During this time Genevieve taught design at Vancouver’s most reputable fashion design schools where she honed her ability to work with other’s ideas and strengthen them. After moving to Salt Spring Island, Genevieve turned her creative focus and skills toward interior design and hand crafted one of a kind home objects. Genevieve brings years of design experience and expertise to W O V E N Architecture and Design.

Black Cabin, designed by W O V E N Architecture, is a serene waterfront retreat nestled among the trees. This elegant cabin features a minimalist design that emphasizes its natural surroundings, creating a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor living.
Raven Ridge Cabin is a rustic modern retreat for those looking to escape the over-stimulation of urban life. Nestled atop a steep slope, the cabin offers 180 degree views to the east with downtown Vancouver visible at a comfortable distance.
Sakinaw Lake House is situated on a platform carved from a steep rocky slope overlooking Sakinaw Lake. A carport located above the house serves as the point of arrival which leads to an outdoor stair descending down to the upper floor where the main entry is located.
Vertes Retreat is a vacation home for a family of four located on the Sunshine Coast in BC Canada. The home is perched 30′ above a pristine lake in the form of an L shape plan that hugs the existing rocky landscape.
This project was commissioned by a couple living in Vancouver who fell in love with Salt Spring Island (as many do) and decided to build their dream home on a beautiful high-bank waterfront lot overlooking views of Sansum Narrows and Vancouver Island beyond.
