Clifton House in Cape Town with a Panoramic View of the Ocean

The Clifton house is visually accessible from the street, rather than hiding behind perimeter walls and gates – and it aims to contribute to the streetscape (specific attention has been paid to landscaping design at sidewalk level), in relation to the sidewalks and to the height of existing adjacent houses.

The materialization is answering the desire to recover and/or emphasize the original condition of the traditional style house. A piece of natural terracotta is placed on a running board as the pavement and the walls are stripped to expose the original factory work with all its defects and textures.
