South Kensington House stands as a testament to the seamless collaboration between architect, interior designer, and client. This Grade II Listed family home has been beautifully refurbished, remodeled, and extended, showcasing the perfect synergy of design vision and client ambition.
The building at 55 East Cordova, a former relic of sand-blasted brick and old-growth timber, was a 150,000 sf warehouse built in 1909 by architect Edward Evans Blackmore in downtown Vancouver, B.C.
Located on Esmoriz, this project is a contemporary reinterpretation of the fishermen’s house called “Palheiro”, wich emerged in the early 19th century as a response to the need the inhabit the beach.
In the historic centre of the town of Alcásser this house is located between party walls. Raised with a double exterior facade, it allows the client to meet their expectations in terms of privacy, while maintaining the urban alignments with the neighbourhood.
The extension and refurbishment of this four-bed house delivers spaces which feel intimate yet expansive, with custom-built joinery throughout designed by the Emil Eve.
