To extend the feel of modern architecture of the building, in which the apartment is situated, we chose concrete, dark wood and polished steel as the major interior materials.
A growing family needed a larger kitchen and wanted a family room that opened up the garden – there was, however, a large tree which sat directly next to the existing kitchen.
Villa Patio sits on a gently sloping site located in Coves Noves, a small urbanisation on the north-east coast of Minorca’s island, Spain. The plot has great views over the Mediterranean Sea, but unfortunately has also a 10-storey hotel shooting up in the horizon;
Designed for a flat in London’s Barbican Estate, the brief was to find space for a children’s bedroom within the existing layout of a one bedroom apartment, a workspace to enable working from home as well as to provide additional storage space.
The clients’ brief for Lawford Road was to create a minimalist, intelligent, and energy-efficient refurbishment of a Victorian property, forming a family home that would allow spaces to adapt over the years.
The client, a young doctor who spent most of her time away from home, had clear desires: a home that would bring her tranquility after an exhausting day at work, and within that same space receive friends informally.
This new build was designed for an English couple looking to create a ‘weekend barn’ for use with friends and family, as well as a high-end holiday rental.
